The commercial Lecithin types and production in China

Soy Lecithin as the most important resource of phosphatidylcholine (PC),it is commercially produced in large quantity to used in food industry,feed industry, chemicals,and pharmaceuticals,it is classified according to the production control system and the raw materials:


  1.  crude soy lecithin oil, this product directly extract from the soy bean oil and meat mill from the end of the processing, it is dark brown thick paste or fluid, the viscosity is over 10000 Cps, it is not easily direct usage in chemicals and feed industry, need to process it again for different application. In China, over 80% of the crude soy lecithin oil is GMO since the major soy bean mills import soy bean from US, Brazil.

  2. Modified soy lecithin oil. this type of soy lecithin oil is processed by use of Organic Reactions to change the molecular structure of a phospholipid to improve or enhance the functional properties of a phospholipid. Chemically modified soy lecithin has good hydrophilic properties in the feed additive, the liquid feed preparation and chemicals industry.
  3.  De oil soy lecithin. To remove the oil from the crude soy lecithin oil, people can get the more concentrated phospholipid, basically 95%-98% (acetone insoluble), it can be made properly in powder form or granular form according to the usages.
    according to the raw materials used (soy lecithin liquid), soy lecithin solid (de-oil soy lecithin) have the following three types:

    1) Soy Lecithin Solid (Powder/granular) GMO, the raw material is from the GMO soy beans, in China, the production quantity is over 5000MT per year, the powdered soy lecithin widely used in feed and food where GMO acceptable.

    2) Soy Lecithin Solid (Powder/granular) Non-GMO. this product is from the non-GMO soy beans. the soy beans in China, normally from the local planting farm, and the area where non-GMO protection area, this type of soy lecithin powder or granular used in non-GMO food production, the color is light yellow color.

    3) De-oil,De-color soy lecithin solid(powder/granular form). for some food processing, color is important for the finished product, to de- color soy lecithin oil is necessary during the preparation, after de-color it, the finished product is slight yellow and more bright.
  4. Applications

mainly for swimming pools and dyestuffs, and is also used as a bleaching agent in the textile industry. It is widely used in civil sanitation for pools and spas, preventing and curing diseases in animal husbandry and fisheries, fruit and vegetable preservation, wastewater treatment, as an algicide for recycled water in industry and air conditioning, in anti shrink treatment for woolens, for treating seeds and in organic chemical synthesis. Trichloroisocyanuric acid as used in swimming pools is easier to handle than chlorine. It dissolves slowly in water, but as it reacts, cyanuric acid concentration in the pool will build-up. At high cyanuric acid concentrations, normal chlorine levels can be rendered ineffective, requiring either dilution by draining and refilling the pool or by adding abnormally high doses of chlorine to overcome this effect.
